Lehigh Valley United “Lou Ramos” Tournament

The PA Rush U-11 Nike boys finished 1-2 in the Lou Ramos Labor Day tournament. We faced some very good teams including the Baltimore Bays and a team from Ottawa Canada. PA Rush was very competitive in each game creating very good scoring opportunities while also playing outstanding defense. Rush’s goalie, Dylan Smith, was outstanding in each game, particularly, the game against Baltimore, with countless great saves. The scoring in the tournament was spread out among several players and included Matt Stevenson, Julian Stewart, and Carson Snyder. Also contributing to the team with great effort and hustle were Jack Mulhearn, Gavin McKelvey, Larson Kalinowski, Blake Ewaskey and Chris Griffin.

Tim Riggs Invitational Soccer Tournament

The PA Rush U-11 Nike boys played up a year at U-12 in the first annual Tim Riggs Invitational Soccer Tournament. The boys tied FC Lehigh 3-3 in their first game, and then defeated Northwestern 3-0 and Governor Mifflin 3-1 to make it to the semifinals. The boys lost to FC Lehigh 2-1 in the semifinals in extra time, as the long day took its toll on the team. The boys battled all day long and played quality soccer displaying nice technical skills and athleticism. Two of the Rush’s goals in the tournament came on head balls, one from a corner kick, and one from a cross. Julian Stewart led the way on defense with great skill and composure. Goal scoring was led by Matt Stevenson, Drew Yuskevich, Carson Snyder,  Gavin McKelvey and Larson Kalinowski. Stephen Curry and Jack Coller also contributed to each game with great skill and hustle.

Eric Ross Kristen Haney Labor Day Tournament

The PA Rush U-8 Nike Boys had a hard fought tournament this weekend but Coach Cathy McCaffery said “it was a good learning experience for the boys, seeing the standard we want to meet.”

The PA Rush U10 Nike boys came in 2nd again in the Branchburg, NJ tournament. We lost our 1st game on Saturday to Dover 4-0. Even though the score was lopsided, ball possession time was almost equal. They were a very talented team, and watching the way they played taught us all something.

Our 2nd game was against the Springfield Gladiators. We squeaked by with a 3-2 win.

Sunday the boys came back refreshed and beat the Rockaway Woverines and Westfield Dundee 4-1 each.
The Coach was please the way the boy’s demonstrated nice possession and ball control.  He was also pleased with how many number of players contributing to the scoring.
